This is a fund raising event to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of my son Dillon who passed away April 18, 2008. There will be a silent auction, cash bar and then 4 comedians. The Hilton has donated the use of their Grand Ballroom for the event, so keep that in mind next time you are booking a hotel room! We are encouraging those who cannot attend to consider buying a ticket that could be donated to hospital staff or parents with kids still in treatment and could use a night…See More

My name is Colin Wilson and my wife and I lost our son Dillon on April 18, 2008 to a rare blood cancer. We have two daughters and until this didn't pay a whole lot of attention to child hood cancer. We knew of it, we thought it was terrible but were to wrapped up in our busy lives to do any thing for it. Looking back it is sad that we have not been involved until now.

Debt after a loss

Posted on October 29, 2008 at 9:23pm 4 Comments

Hi everyone. My name is Colin and I joined PAC2 a couple of months ago. My son Dillon passed away April 18, 2008. I have a question for parents that might be in my shoes. Its a question that I have wondered about posting because it is a kind of how could that be what you are worried about question. I wanted to know what others might be doing about debt or have done about debt after the loss of a child. We were lucky in the fact that between my work's insurance and insurance we qualified for… Continue

First off I am so sorry for your loss. Second off if you can e-mail me about your debt. I was a medical insurance claims analyst for 20 years, I am also a certified billing specialist, I would like to talk to you about your bills. There are things you need to know and your insurance company nor the providers will tell you. But I will!!
Please let me know I would like to help if I can.

Colin,
You are just like almost all of us out here...we didn't know the gross reality of Childhood Cancer until it hit our children. How could we have known about it?? It isn't publicized so nobody knows the truth of how uncontrolled and horrible it is. That is one of our BIG goals at PAC2...bringing awareness to people so they can support us as we strive to get funding for CC research. I am so sorry about your adorable son Dillon. Our son had a very rare form of leukemia (8 diagnoses per year in the US) where there is NO research done. I hope someday ALL CC is eradicated!
