My daughter Erika was almost 6 when she was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma in June of 2005. She had 42 weeks of chemotherapy and 5 weeks of radiation. Tumor was in a bad spot and could not be removed. Today, she is 27 months remission. Every 3 months she returns to the childrens hospital of philadelphia to make sure her cancer has not returned. She has already become an advocate for other children. Her mission every 3 months is to deliver toys, books, gift cards, etc., to the children at the hospital still receiving treatment. One day she would like to grow up and help find a cure. I am so proud to be her mom.

My daughter Erika will be heading to CHOP on NOV. 17th for her scans. She started a mission to bring toys, books, etc to the children at the hospital. If anyone knows of a child that will be at CHOP that day (admitted or in clinic) please let us know so that we can deliver a toy. The age and sex of the child would be helpful. Also, their likes and dislikes. My dining room is filled with great gifts and it would be nice to meet some great people instead of leaving them there to be… Continue

Thanks Michelle! It makes me feel better. Life has been so good this year - it has made us appreciate every day and enjoy it to the fullest. The unknown scares me but like you said all you can do is have faith and be strong. Thanks again. Dash

My daughter Ishani just had her scans and they were normal - so we are now 18 months off treatment. I hope Erika is keeping well and you too. I am finding out that the further out we get from treatment the more emotional I am getting about it all- instead I should be happy - did that happen to you? Dash

Hi Michelle,
My son was diagnosed with aveolar rhabdomyosarcoma one year ago.
He was put on a 54 week protocol of which he has completed about half. He is doing relatively well.

Best wishes to your daughter and your family.

Your daughter is doing a wonderful project for the hospital. It feels so good to give back, too. Our son's class in 6th grade made it their graduating from sixth grade project to collect art supplies and buy an art cart for them at the clinic. It is great when kids can inspire other kids and adults to have compassion for other kids who are in the hospital. Keep up the good work! Glad your daughter is still in remission and doing well. Nice to meet you!

Hi Michelle
I am so happy to hear that Erika is doing well. It also gives me hope for my daughter who was diagnosed in June 2006 at the age of 3 1/2 with rhabdomyosarcoma. She too has 3 monthly scans but is doing well. She just started Kindergarten -a day I did not think I would see. Hope to talk to you more.
