The profile pic is of Elizabeth when she was 8 years old. She's always looked younger than her age, I think. This is one of my favorite photos of her. She turned 15 in July. One more year of chemo. I'd say... you wouldn't believe it... but I know you all will.. the chemo has wrecked her body. I just don't know how she can take another year of this, or maybe I don't know how I will take another year of it. But I will, of course. I hate cancer with every fiber of my being. Guess I shouldn't… Continue

New blog site for Elizabeth

I started a new site to chronicle our journey through this hell. But I haven't had much oomph to write in recent weeks. Click here to see it. Don't you think cancer is the loneliest place to be?

We were d/c'd on 1/9 and got home around 3:00 pm. She's not running a fever anymore but she has a very cruddy cough. Anyway, thanks for the prayers and kind thoughts. Nicki

Hi Nikki,

My son is now 16yrs finished treatment May 07, he is doing great, has lost all the chemo weight he put on, and has grown much taller and is turning into a handsome young man, and making me feel very old!! Has never had any problems since finishing treatment he very rarely even gets a cold, all in all after the problems he had whilst on treatment it has turned out fantastically, and could not be better.
I hope your Daughter does as well when she goes of treatment, it's a frightening time not having the safty umbrella of treatment and took me a while to get used to him not having tabs etc, but as the years roll on I really don't think about it very much now, we just enjoy what we have day to day.
Christopher is doing well at school and works in a cafe one day a week for work experience, and the school kitchens on another, so at the moment alls well :)

Best wishes to you and your daughter, have a great xmas and happy new year :)

I do think cancer is the loneliest place in the world. I don't even talk to the doctors anymore when we go in for our monthly visit because they just keep treating me like I'm crazy...... My sister died in March from ovarian cancer and I'm almost certain she was kept in the dark most of the time.
How have things been going for you and Elizabeth? She is such a beautiful soul.

Hi Nicki: Chris is doing very well. He is now on 75% chemo. He was on 100% crashed off for 4 weeks, back on 100% for 3 weeks crashed off or 3 weeks on 50% for 3 weeks counts good so on 75% now doing well. It seems to be a little easier for him than Elizabeth it is weird how it affects Downs kids differently. He is getting a cataract on his left eye from the prednisone. He is on 60mg for 5 days a month. I was talking to the peadiatric Onc when Chris had his LP the other day and she said she would rather see a child with low ANC and on 25% chemo than a child on 150% chemo with a high Anc. The high chemo and high Anc concerns her as far as relapse so that is encouraging that low Anc and 25% chemo in her mind is better. Hope Elizabeth continues to do well. We don't seem to have problems with Vincristine either as far as the walking goes. Did they reduce her vincristine because of the walking? The oncs here are very pleased with how easy this is going for Chris just a couple of small problems. He is in school again since end of Sept. Take care and keep in touch. Georgina

Hi Nicki,
Thank you for leaving the thoughtful message on my page. I hope Elizabeth is doing better, she is in my prayers day and night. When I heard she was in the hospital, i wished we were back there. I hated that place, but I would give anything to have Danielle back, even if it meant being in the hospital with her again. I know she is healthy now, but.......
Take Care and give Elizabeth a big hug for me.
Love
Colleen

Hey, I forgot to say, Elizabeth looks so cool in that Weirwolf costume. I won't be showing the boys though, too scary.
