At the age of 5, my daughter Grace was diagnosed with medulloblastoma on September 20, 2007. She has had surgery, radiation(proton therapy) and chemotherapy. In
August 2009, she had her 7th clear MRI since finishing radiation. Hallelujah! Grace is 7, and she is a superstar. We are making every effort to do like Elphaba, and "Defy Gravity".

RI State House dome to be GOLD!

Posted on September 16, 2009 at 10:57am 2 Comments

So pleased when I got word today that my request will actually happen. For the week of September 21st, the Rhode Island State House dome will be lit with gold lights in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Kudos to The Tomorrow Fund for covering the expenses. The lighting will coincide with the Governor's ceremony to honor the children of the Tomorrow Fund Clinic (September 22nd). Grace will be receiving a "Lifetime Ambassador" medal. I will photograph the event and the dome and post… Continue

A Letter of Thanks to Melanie of SuperSibs....

Dear Melanie,

My older daughter Fiona is 10 years old. She is bright and funny and caring and wonderful, and she is the big sister of Grace, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September 2007.

My husband and I, with the help of friends and family, have worked hard at appreciating and meeting Fiona’s needs throughout our family’s experience with cancer. Yes… there has been some spoiling - a cell phone and Miley Cyrus tickets are maybe not necessities – but we also make… Continue

I am very happy to read about how well things are going. Our son Davis, was/is a 5 year old survivor of medulloblastoma. Unfortunatly, he relapsed in October 2009. He had the tumor removed, and will be starting chemotherapy and radiation this week. We always knew this was a possibility as he was diagnosed at 2 year 11 months 5 years ago and was on a clinical trial that involved high dose chemo, but avoided radiation. Hopefully, this time things work out better. We hope and pray there is a cure for all childhiid cancers at some point in our lifetime.

Hi Rebekah - I am trying to learn my way around this site. Thanks so much for the welcome. Since I commited to the shave I have gotten a great response from family, friends, community and especially childhood cancer survivors. They really think it cool that we are making this commitment.

Hello:
I am trying to help CureSearch pass an appropriation bill that is in conference right now. I am wondering if you could contact your congress person, Patrick Kennedy. Could you also get anyone else who is lives in RI to do it, too? You can contact via the Team Unite link on the top of the page or by the CureSearch link that was posted today. Thank you for your help!

Hi Rebekah! Just wanted to thank you for the invite. I'm telling you, this really is a small world... Hopefully, you'll be able to incourage some of you SC friends to attend (maybe participate) in Grace's honor. She certainly is a beautiful little girl. I wish nothing but the best for your entire family. Take care and thanks again!
