Mother of Twin Cancer Survivors
Optional question where you can tell us more about you, your child, your reasons to be here, or simply introduce yourself.
Mother of 4. My oldest are identical twin girls both are cancer survivors. They had stem cell transplants at age 4 and are 11 now. We are dealing with a lot of late term effects. I joined this group in hopes of meeting other parents who understand what it is like to be forever changed by cancer. And to be able to offer and recive suggestions and advice or just to listen.
Thank you so much Amy for the info on Congresswoman Schwartz's staff. That young lady was so refreshing! We need more people in Washington like her. I can't wait to here from her again. I feel that their office is going to be a great help!

Kathi, I haven't had a chance to sit down and read all the stories this wonderful site has to offer. I can't wait to be able to contribute. I have been so overwhelmed with insurance battles, education battles and the everyday events that arise from the related stresses.

I am going to the Symposium on Saturday in Philadelphia. Will any of you be there? If so I am really looking forward to the break out meetings. I have been alone through this entire cancer process and really need to be with people who are not afraid to talk to me. Sounds crazy to most but I'm sure some of you have experienced that.

I am off to meet with PA Senator Brubaker today to see if we can get any state programs involved.

take care.

Stacie -

I wanted to let you know that you and the girls were remembered this year at Reach the Day, not only by me. Kelly Hall, Rep. Allyson Schwartz's aide asked about you all. She recalled the girls and your story very vividly.

You definitely make an impact!

I saw your quote in the Phila. Inquirer; way to go! It's so important for people to realize that childhood Cancer could be considered a "preexisiting condition" leading to insurance denials, which the reforms are designed to prevent. They need to understand that we must protect the innocent survivors (and their families) who absolutely need (and deserve) reliable, consistent, affordable health care.

You have such a powerful voice and story; thanks for sharing it with those who need to hear it!

Dear Stacie,

Thank you for allowing me the honor of taking a picture with your daughter. They are heroes in my eyes and in the eyes of many, I am sure.

Ever since I met them, they, you and your family have been in my prayers.

I was asked by 4 families (so far) that were at Reach the Day for a CD of all the pictures that I took during Reach the Day.

May I include the picture I took with them?
Is it OK if it ends up on Facebook?

The girls are not wearing name tags in the picture. But they are real princesses and royalty. So I am sure that the world would recognize them.

Please hug them for me and let then know that I asked for them.

Welcome to PAC2, Stacie! It was so wonderful getting to meet you at RTD, although of course, I wish it were under different circumstances. Your girls are simply amazing. I keep telling everyone how poised they were at the meetings. I am keeping them and you in my prayers!

I have the information - I'll send you a separate note with Rep. Schwartz's aide's info. I still haven't even gotten all the way home, yet! I'm planning on getting my follow up letters done this evening and tomorrow.

I'm so glad to see you on here! And Bob (AJ's Dad) is right; everyone will be very interested to hear your compelling story (and continued battles, post-treatment.)

All best,
