I am an advocate and supporter of childhood cancer research. My best friend is a Wilms Tumor survivor and have served as the Camper Recruitment Coordinator for Camp Quality Michigan since 2007. I have volunteered countless hours with children who are battling this horrible disease and have experienced losing many along the way.

Also, I'm training to participate in the 2009 Chicago Marathon as part of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. I have decided to run in memory of Caleb Whan, and will be completing (yes, completing) the 26.2 miles along with his proud father, Rob (PAC2 member). I'm super excited to take part in such a great event and raise money for life-saving research!

hmm, haven't blogged in a while here...

I thought I'd let PAC2 know that I'm training to participate in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 11 with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training! I will be training and running in memory of the handsome Caleb Whan. Additionally, I will be raising a minimum of $2,600 to support live-saving research for blood cancers.

I set up a blog to keep track of my training progress for anyone who wants to… Continue

some words to describe cancer - add your own!!

For the past week, I’ve tried to find something worth blogging about on PAC2. I considered camp stories, poems, and even songs that would have some relevance to why we are all here. Although those all sounded great, I saw the blog as also a place to vent my true thoughts and feelings about childhood cancer, and not be judged for it. For a while now, my head has been flooded with words. This spectrum of words in my mind describe the bitter reality of cancer. These are words that I’ve experienced… Continue

Sort of a photo blog.

So, some of you may glance at my PAC2 profile and wonder what my connection with childhood cancer is, and that's OK. Most college students my age haven't witnessed what I have, and therefore might not feel as passionate about CC as I do. Rather than typing paragraph after paragraph for you to read though, I figured I'd be creative and do a little partial photojournalism of my own (plus, my profile SERIOUSLY lacks some visuals.)

Enjoy!

Hi Stephanie! I'm not doing an event this fall, but I did the Philadelphia Distance Run last Sept. (my first run over 3 miles, haha!) and loved it so much I had to stay on to do the Philadelphia Full Marathon in November 08. I was a TNT mentor last season and this season I'm volunteering at water stops, flyering, etc. They are such a wonderful organization!! I had a great experience meeting the team heroes, coaches, and fellow runners. Everyone was so kind. I hope you are having a similar experience!

What race are you doing? Is this your first, or have you done long-distance races before? Enjoy it, and best of luck to you on your training and fundraising for the cause! Go TEAM!!
