Making Memories with Jessica!

Profile Information

Please list your CarePage/Caring Bridge/blog site, your organization, or your reason for being here?
Optional question where you can tell us more about you, your child, your reasons to be here, or simply introduce yourself.
My youngest child, Jessica, now 9, has stage IV alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, lost her right leg above the knee to the cancer (even with such loss, did NOT cure her cancer), and wears a prosthesis called "Elvis." She was diagnosed when she was 7. She had almost a year of remission before a relapse in lungs, back, and neck. She is presently on her second round of chemotherapy and radiation which includes ICE. She is a strong girl, full of love and high spirited. She is a joy to be around and an inspiration to many. Her faith is strong, and she believes she will be cured. She believes it, it WILL happen, and our faith is with her~!
December 8, 2008, Jessica has reached a SECOND REMISSION of this most horrible cancer! Hurray for Warrior Jessica, she is kicking the can out of cancer!

Jessica LOST her battle on 10/13/2009, one day shy of her 11th birthday. Thank you all for your continued support and prayers during this trying time. We miss her greatly and will ALWAYS FIGHT FOR ALL CHILDREN WITH CANCER. Together, we CAN and WILL make a differnce.

Teresa, I take the world prize in getting into things over my head, and this is my biggest MG spoiler! Ha, figuring out this thread is a biggie, too, and wanting to include Jennifer, angel Kevin's mom. BTW, not to cancer, but I lost a son, too. MADD and Compassionate Friends weakened on me, and I was left alone to face my battle. MADD is picking back up now, but I am HERE. The fight for awareness, and to actively reach out reaches the *me* much better than the *poor me* I got from the other two organizations when I was with them. Or, maybe I was too busy at the time, and now I have nothing but time. I'm incorporating CC into my blog which is MG related. I've **GOT** to get at least my legs working so I can get to my pictures and my printer. *I* think I am here for a reason. *I* think I met you and Jennifer for a reason. *I* have been believing God has been doing something, working on something in my life for about a year now, especially since I was involved in an online blood drive early in the year.

The cookbook sounds great! It *will* get into the hands of the right people!

I did med trans when I went on disability in '91. More in common. Nice. Daughter went to Cave City with her baby to live and liked it. Nice area. She's back here now, though.

Maybe you, Jennifer, (Kevin's mom), and me, can do some some childhood cancer in this part of the state. I need teaching. I'm just a great-grandmother, but love learning all I can. I don't like lying in this bed. Ugh!
I will have two *up* weeks after my IVIG infusion at St. Bernard's next week. Ugh, have to mix drs' appts in there, too, but I'd love to get out of this bed!

With winter coming I wanted MG shirts, but would now like CC shirts as well if we had them. I'm just so glad to be a part!

Hi Teresa,
Our awareness shirts arrived last night. When we showed the kids theirs, they immediately found her picture and exclaimed "there's Jessica".. They recognized Julian as well... we'll wear the shirts proudly. Please tell Jessica we're thinking of her!

Yes! The thank you note was very cute! :)we loved getting mail from "the royal princess"!!! hope she is doing well!
I have to say something in response to your recent caringbridge posts...
first... friends... i understand jessica is going through a rough time with the whole friend issue... :(
makes sense for her to feel kinda sad. please let her know that we think of her all the time. she may not have the typical friendships that most kids her age may have, but she does have so many people around her who find her to be so special and are thankful to have her in their lives. hope she can shake off the blues.

as for the cook book... WONDERFUL!! first of all, i already want to order one! hahah!! i'll even order a few for my friends!
we'd love to contribute a recipe if we can think of one that would be deserving of a page in her book!!
and yes, you have our permission to list us as a resource on your helpful link page. anything we can do to help...

oh, and for the birthday card wishes... i have a class of 25 students who would be more than happy to make her cards. i could probably get a whole lot of the students in my school to send her a card. would it be ok for me to mail a bunch of them on one big envelope, or would the point be to have her get a flood of mail... let me know!!! we will start working on it!
:) friends?? we'll show her friends!

oh, and as for katie's scores.. WHOO HOO! how does she do it!? congrats to her!

Hi Teresa, I follow Jessica, she is such an inspiration. Although I have no children of my own, I have several nieces and nephews and a great niece and another on the way that will be named after my Mom that passed in January, I miss her so, also two great nephews. So my two older nieces have always been like my children, and I have always been more of their mom than their biological mom, sad but true. I admire you, Jessica and your family, you are all fighters, you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Have a great day, it is a great day to have.

With love and prayers,
