Headed to DC in June?

Are any of you going up for Reach the Day?

I had the opportunity to write a guest column for the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Kate Shafer saw it and called to invite me to come to DC in June. I'm GOING -- but on the promise that she will USE me. I can write, and I can surely TALK.

Would love to meet some of my online friends there. Let me know!

Just a little rant from over on Annika's Caringbridge site...

Hello out there---

It’s funny… I have no idea how many people still get notifications when I post here. I find myself wondering if people question my decision to continue posting when my kid is currently healthy. How many people delete without reading? Are my posts seen as just another mindless interruption into an otherwise pleasant day? Maybe I am talking to some faithful CB friends, relatives and the occasional passerby. I find this slightly humorous,as if I have just realized that I… Continue

Funding Research and Building Relationships

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is not only dedicated to finding a cure for all childhood cancers, but in the process we work directly with many of the doctors, researchers and nurses to make sure we are helping to meet their needs along the way. We fund their research toward a cure, but we also take the time to listen to them, which in turn allows us to help them in ways we may not have otherwise been aware of. We had a unique opportunity this week in Washington, DC to bring many of these… Continue

If it happened all at once...

If the 12,400+ children under the age of 20 who will be affected by childhood Cancer this year were in the same place, at the same time in the U.S., all at once...

If a camera crew was there as each child was poked, prodded, tested, scanned and hooked up to lines, tubes, catheters, bags of blood, platelets, and chemo (labeled "toxic")...

If viewers caught a glimpse of the pain, the agony shared by parents, grandparents, loved ones and friends as…

Teens Living with Cancer - Video Interviews

Our local newspaper did a few brief video interviews of "Teens Living with Cancer" - about 4 in all. You can see one on this page, and should be able to easily find the others from here. About 2 minutes each.

The Power is in your hands!

The truth is that Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation would not exist without the thousands of volunteers across the country (and world!) that host lemonade stands each year. We utilize the money that these volunteers raise to fund cutting-edge research toward finding better treatments and cures for all kids affected by cancer. Usually deciding where our funds go is quite a process (as it should be since we want to fund the best and most promising research). It includes a… Continue

New Additions to Team Alex

Happy Friday everyone! It has been a hot week here in the Philadelphia area, which only reminds us that summer and lemonade season are right around the corner. While we are very excited about continuing our 10th anniversary year, we can’t help but be a little nervous about our goal of raising more funds and awareness this year than in any year prior! With such a lofty goal, we thought we would enlist the help of supporters on the ground in some of… Continue

Happy April Fools’ Day!

Here at Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, we are faced with the very serious issue of childhood cancer every day. So, we try to keep the environment light around the office. In honor of April Fools’ Day, we wanted to share some of the activities our staff has taken part in. These include chair races, scooter obstacle courses, and the “who can keep a straight face after biting into a sour lemon” game.

We are very serious about finding a cure for childhood cancer, but as evidenced… Continue
