17 years ago today the greatest gift was given to me. A beautiful red
haired, blue-eyed girl. My heart soared. I have never and will never
again know such joy, as being her mom. Alecia filled my life with
pure, unconditional love-- and purpose. I excelled at being her mom.
I was good at it and I loved it and her like nothing else. Alecia's
dad and I were not married. We decided within the first year to
separate. He moved away. Leaving Alecia and I to be an awesome… Continue

This Thursday will be Thanksgiving....It will also be Jason and Caitlyn's birthday. Caitlyn truly was a gift from God. A gift sent to Jason for his birthday!!! I'm so proud that God chose my son to be Caitlyn's daddy..He could not have chosen anyone who would have loved her more. I and her grandfather (Poppy) could not have been prouder to be her grand parents.
The school that Caitlyn went to (Cumberland Presbyterian) had a mini walk in her honor today.
They made a little banner and… Continue

I encourage everyone to go to www.hostanelf.com and read about "Elves from Catie". God called Catie home in January 2007. Jenny, her mom, was not sure how she was going to make if through her first Christmas without her and wanted to do something to honor her memory and spread joy. So she called HostanElf and "Elves from Catie" was launched. With only a couple of weeks to work with over 400 Elves were sent to the cancer untit at Scottish Rites and several thousand dollars donated to CURE. This… Continue

Bentley's battle with the 'monster' is over... 3 months and 22 days... is over!
He now can smile, can laugh, can draw, can run, can tell silly jokes, again!
I believe he's having a great time seeing his great-grandparents, or playing with some new friends, like Mathew, AJ or Caitlan..
... but I missed him so much!

First off Aimee is feeling a little better. I think since she hasn't eaten in such a long time it will take her a while to regain her strength, but at least her feedings are going well even though she wants nothing more then to remove that as she states stupid tube from her nose!!!
Aimee was asked by her homebound teacher to play on the faculty team at a basketball game between the teachers and students, to raise funds for the Susan G Komen foundation called hoops for hope. Of course Aimee… Continue

Please say a small prayer for sam he has a check up and echo tomorrow morning his dad is taking him. We seem to do much better if he goes for these routine check ups, Sam is not as nervous!!! I think it is more about him being mad at me for being there during treatment.

I wanted to share that I just got a phone call from Nina's oncologist saying that he could not believe it's been a year since she died. He actually remembered! Once when Nina was mad about having to take Decadron she wrote a list of the top ten reasons why she hated it and gave it to her doctor. He thought it was awesome and he told me today he still has it hanging beside the work station in the clinic and thinks of Nina whenever he sees it.
This brought tears to my eyes but also joy to my… Continue

Aimee was admitted to the hospital on November 11, due to an ear infection which was dripping down into her throat making it very difficult for her to swallow.
Since the tumor in her brain controls her swallowing it complicates things more so. Aimee was also having a hard time handling her own secretion which was just adding to the problem with the mucus. It all started last Wednesday November 5th when I decided to pull Aimee from school since I felt she was starting to get a cold, and… Continue

Ok I have to vent as I am sure everyone will understand. I was searching the internet today looking for a new supplier for the gold ribbon charms that I use for the conquer kids cancer pendent and came across two sites promoting a Gold Ribbon for breast cancer awareness. URGH!!! They get enough attention without taking our color to. I nicely sent them an email informing them that Pink was for Breast Cancer and GOLD was for Childhood Cancer and could they please change it on their… Continue

For those of you out there who have children with pediatric brain tumors, there is a foundation specifically for your child. Please go to http://www.friendsofjaclyn.org/ and find out more about it and see if you would like your child involved. If you would, you can contact me, or, you can do so on the website. My son is now a part of this by way of the UNC Baseball team. Their outreach program this year is adopting a child by way of this foundation. It is unique program and very worthwhile.… Continue

Please check out my blog for Bentley's Song of Love! Even though it's me who provides all the infos... I like the song, it's so sweet to have a song about Bentley!
Bentlley is now in his 'sleeping mode' all the time, but there's times that he's 'awake', and I'm sure he can hear and sense us when we hold his hand or hug him... I think he like his song too... because he gave me a 'facial movement' when I ask him if he likes it... and I take it as a 'yes'!
Glad that he's… Continue

Well, the CT scan results are back and its not what we had hoped for,
the 3 lesions they were hoping would be gone are still there. There is
