2009 will be the first year since my son Silas River Bennett was born that he will have no part of. The magnitude of this reality is hitting my heart with a pain and heaviness I couldn't have anticipated. Silas passed away on May 27, 2008, almost 8 months after being diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer that had spread to his spine. Cancer is such a cruel, unjust disease. When it affects children and young adults it is beyond cruel and unjust. Watching Silas as he continued to find hope, humor,… Continue

Today is the one year anniversary of our 2 year old son Seth earning his wings. Last year we held him in our arms as Jesus took him home. Seth had a P.N.E.T brain tumor (stage 4).That was life changing for us. The 8 month "Cancer journey" also changed our lives, and opened our eyes to the mostly unknown world of Childhood Cancer...and for that that we will always fight!!! Our hearts are so broken without Seth, he was our joy and we love him so much, life is just not the same without him here.… Continue

If an angel passes through your life
And you know not what to do
Then consider smiling through the strife
As this angel blesses you

Christmas is coming
Bells are ringing
My heart feels empty
when Bentley is missing.
All the joy of shopping and the fun in decorating
seemed to vanish when I see the candles burning.
The days are gone
but the love still here
Wishing you a Merry Christmas
and feel you in my heart
All I want for Christmas... is you!

I am very aware that I can't do this by myself so it would be great if you could help out to. When we woke up yesterday, it was the usual routine clean Aimee up and go get some coffee. I started to feed Aimee around 7 while she went back to sleep. The feed was finished about 8:30. I just came back from getting another cup of coffee and Aimee began to choke between 8:45 and 9:00. I immediately started to suction her, but then she began to vomit. All of the formula I just gave her was coming back up. My daughter Jennifer had just gone to bed at about 7, since she was taken the night… Continue

Hello all, I am sorry that it has taken me so long to post this, but as some of you may all ready know Aimee is not doing very well. The doctor was here on Tuesday and said Aimee has maybe a week left to live. She has become totally paralyzed and can only move her eyes to answer me when I ask her questions. I have to suction her every 10 minutes down her throat so she doesn’t choke on her own secretions (spit). It is becoming more and more difficult for her to breathe even on oxygen. Even… Continue

Our family attended the Candlelighters Tree Lighting Event at the Old Post Office Pavilion in Washington, DC on December 6. (see www.candlelighters.org for information about Candlelighters). Each year, a 23-foot tree covered with thousands of gold ribbons is displayed to raise awareness about childhood cancer. The sight is both beautiful and horrific.
The ribbons are in honor or memory of a child who has or had cancer.… Continue

This past Monday Wilson went to see his cancer dr at Children's Mercy Hospital for his annual cancer check up.
After the round of hugs and praises, Dr. Max and the nurses checked to ensure Wilson was still cancer free after being declared in remission 7yrs ago in Dec 2001.
He doesn't have to go back and see Dr Max until Dec 2009
