Optional question where you can tell us more about you, your child, your reasons to be here, or simply introduce yourself.
I am the mother of Jackson and Mira. Mira was diagnosed at 23 months with ependymoma (brain cancer). She went through 15 months of treatment including many surgeries, high-dose chemo, stem cell transplant, IMRT radiation, and intrathecal antibody radiation and was cancer free at the end. She worked every day for 9 months toward recovery from the side effects of her tumor and her treatment. She started pre-K and enjoyed life in so many ways. In January '08, Mira was diagnosed with a recurrence of ependymoma. She again went through surgery then began anti-angiogenic treatment (a combination of low dose chemo and blood vessel growth inhibitors). It should have been smooth sailing. Three weeks later, Mira came down with an unexpected side-effect of treatment- neutropenia. One week later, April 26, 2008, she was gone. Now we fight for the other children and their families, in honor or our girl who was so amazing, brave, and strong. Please join us!!! Together our voices will be heard!
